    Sliding Windows for Saskatchewan Homes

Sometimes, the simplest design is the most practical. Sliding windows (also known as gliders or slider windows) operate just like a patio door, the sashes glide horizontally along a track. They are incredibly easy to open, offer clean, modern lines, and are the perfect solution for wide horizontal openings where other window styles might be too heavy or impractical.

Sask Windows & Doors installs premium vinyl sliding windows engineered for the Prairies. Older aluminum sliding windows are notorious for freezing shut in the winter and leaking cold air. Our modern, multi-chambered vinyl sliders feature advanced weatherstripping and triple-pane glass to ensure they glide smoothly in the summer and seal tightly in the winter.

    Where Sliding Windows Excel

Sliding windows are the go-to choice for specific areas of your home. Because they don't swing outward like casement windows, they require zero exterior clearance. This makes them ideal for walls facing walkways, patios, or decks where an open window might obstruct foot traffic.

They are also the standard choice for wide, short openings, such as the space above a kitchen sink or high up on a bedroom wall. Furthermore, because the weight of the sash is supported entirely by the bottom track rather than hinges, sliding windows can be built much wider than swinging windows.

    Features of Our Sliding Windows

    Effortless Operation

Our premium brass tandem rollers ensure the sashes glide effortlessly along the track, never sticking or jumping off the rail.

    Lift-Out Sashes

Cleaning is a breeze. The operable sashes can be easily lifted out of the track and brought inside, allowing you to clean both sides of the glass safely.

    Advanced Weatherstripping

We use high-density, multi-fin weatherstripping that compresses tightly when the window is locked, blocking out drafts and dust.

    2-Lite vs. 3-Lite Configurations

We offer sliding windows in two main configurations. A 2-lite slider has two panels (one fixed, one sliding, or both sliding). For very wide openings, we offer 3-lite sliders. In a 3-lite configuration, the large center panel is fixed, and the two smaller end panels slide inward. This provides a massive, unobstructed view in the center with excellent ventilation on the sides.

The Importance of a Good Track

The track is the most critical component of a sliding window. Cheap tracks fill with dirt and ice, causing the window to jam. Our premium tracks are designed with a raised rail system that allows dirt and moisture to fall away from the rollers, ensuring smooth, quiet operation year after year.
